Glass fibre cloth is coated with aluminium foil in order to reduce fraying in a variety of applications.
The reflective properties of the aluminium coating on the fibreglass fabric effectively reduces loss of heat via radiation. Its continuous working temperature is 550°C and its short-term working temperature is 600oC. These properties make it ideal for applications such as making protective, fire-proof wear, as well as use in boilers and foundries, and in vehicles, e.g. cars and motorbikes.
